About the Artist:
Although my work spans 50 years, in the past I have not had the time to focus exclusively on my painting, and exhibit and sell my work. But now I’ve come to Vero Beach to do just that!
I received a B.A. in Studio Art from Newton College of the Sacred Heart (now a part of Boston College). Additional art studies include work at the School at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, the Art Student League in New York City, printmaking at the American Centre in Paris and drawing at the National Arts Club in New York City, where I am a member.
I work in oils, acrylics, charcoal and graphite, and my interests and influences range from religious iconography from my convent school education to 17th and 18th c. cultural life in France. I hold a M.A. from New York University in French Language and Civilization. I have been active in costume design for opera and baroque music performances with the Brooklyn Ballet, Opera Lafayette based in Washington D.C. and Aston Magna, America’s oldest annual summer festival devoted to baroque music performed on period instru¬ments. My costumes have been presented in productions at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Kennedy Center, Brooklyn Academy of Music, and the Alliance Francaise/French Institute in New York City. I have twice been a finalist for a Bessie Award for my ballet costumes, the “Oscars of the costume world.”
I hope you click through here on the VBAC website and on my own website, patriciaforelle.com, to learn more about me and see many examples of my artwork and costumes. Thanks for your interest!
